1. Brush Regularly

Brushing regularly ensures that your mouth is kept free from bits and pieces of leftover food that are a playing ground for harmful acid causing bacteria. You must brush at least twice a day especially after a major meal to cleanse the mouth and also prevent the formation of plaque and other kinds of tooth diseases. The toothbrush should be designed in such a way that it reaches even the hard-to-reach corners of the mouth for maximum protection and hygiene.

2. Use Dental Floss

Dental floss allows removal of small food items from places where normal brush can’t reach especially between the gaps of teeth. Gently slide the floss between the gaps of teeth and around the gum line. Use dental floss at least two times a day for maximum protection especially against plaque and gingivitis. Gingivitis is a swelling of the gums caused by plaques which are a film of bacteria causing yellow coloring of the teeth.

3. Rinse with Mouthwash

Mouth wash is also a very effective agent to prevent tooth decay that helps maintain its shine and luster of the teeth. It is an excellent agent to prevent bad breath which accompanies the buildup of bacteria inside of the mouth. Avoid mouthwash that contains alcohol as research has shown that it causes harmful effect to the teeth in the form of dryness of the mouth and also in extreme cases cancerous ulcers.

4. Avoid Foods that Causes Harm

Sugary food adversely affects the teeth causing erosion of the enamel that protects the teeth from harm. You should minimize the intake of such sugary and carbonated items like soda, chocolate, sweets, and candy. Besides sugary foods soy sauce, berries and curries stain your enamel removing the whitish shine from it. Also tea and coffee contains tanning that causes brown spots to appear on the teeth.

Beneficial foods that actually help in preventing the stains include apple, celery, broccoli, carrots, spinach and lettuce that help in sustaining the whiteness of your teeth while you chew away on them.
