Dental veneers seem to be all the rage in the dental clinics these days. They are ideal for giving you an ultimate make-over when it comes to your teeth and smile! They literally make the impossible possible by transforming crooked, damaged, worn out, and stained teeth into a completely new white smile, which makes it hard to resist smiling! You’ll hardly believe your teeth!

What are Dental Veneers?

So dental veneers are basically like having fake nails over your real nails to improve cosmetic appearance. They appear as wafer-thin shells, camouflaged to the color of your natural teeth. They come in two forms: ceramic and porcelain. Which of these two is better will be discussed later. Veneers are cementer to the front surface of your teeth to improve their appearance. So basically, you’re not really undergoing any sort of dental treatment to rectify the misalignment of your teeth, but you’re still getting the desired result that you would from other corrective methods, such as conventional braces.

When is it a good time to opt for Dental Veneers?

There are some problems that conventional medical treatments can’t overcome, especially if your tooth problem exceeds beyond a certain point.  Stained teeth – if you’ve tried teeth whitening or prophyflex treatments and still can’t get rid of those nasty stains, veneers is probably the best option for you, as they cover even the most stubborn stains on your teeth. Damaged teeth – teeth can become extremely worn out because of various factors, such as grinding teeth, drinking too many carbonated beverages, or chipping and breaking because of a medical condition, such as rheumethoid arthritis. Veneers help rectify these problems by the use of a composite known as “composite veneers”. Gaps – Veneers can be used to fill the spaces and gaps between your teeth, making your smile appear more uniform and beautiful!

So Which Are Better: Composite Veneers Or Porcelain Veneers?

Like we stated earlier, there are two types of veneers, including composite and porcelain. The most popular option is that of porcelain veneers, which are more durable and less prone to staining as opposed to composite veneers. They also seem more natural, and therefore the better choice. Unfortunately, they tends to cost more than composite veneers. But on the other hand, because composite veneers aren’t as durable and tend to stain more, they often need to be replaced more than once, and could end up costing you more than porcelain veneers. Porcelain veneers will typically last between five and ten years, while composite veneers last a year or two at most. Veneers are the most convenient and cost-effective way to manage a healthy smile. So if you’ve got a problem that your dentist can’t seem to fix via conventional methods, try suggesting to him or her the choice of veneers if they haven’t offered it to you already. Come and visit our practice for a consultation to find out the best way to take to care of your smile! Happy smiling!
