Professional enough to book. Magical enough to believe.
SWLA Santa is where Lake Charles, LA families come to hire a real-bearded Santa Claus for a private, in-home Santa Visit. Santa Michael, a graduate of the Charles W. Howard Santa School with six years of experience as a SAG-certified entertainer, brings an authentic beard and real Santa Claus training to every visit across Lake Charles and Calcasieu Parish. Every visit is fully insured through Nationwide Santas (Policy 1888835).
A Santa Visit from SWLA Santa is a private, in-home visit with Santa Michael, a real-bearded Santa Claus trained at the Charles W. Howard Santa School. Unlike many Santa Claus performers working out of a rented Santa suit, Santa Michael's beard and Santa School training are the real thing, backed by insurance, a SAG card, and six years of experience across Lake Charles. He arrives in full costume, hands out presents, hears each child's Christmas list, and poses for photos wherever the family wants. Santa School training means Santa Michael knows how to slow down for a nervous toddler or use basic sign language with a deaf child. Mrs. Claus, Buddy the Elf, or the Papa Noel persona can join any Santa Visit on request.
Santa Visits with SWLA Santa run 1 to 8 hours, starting at $150. A short visit suits one family wanting presents and photos, while a longer booking fits a bigger gathering or backyard party. Every hour is backed by the same insurance and Santa School training. Reach out with your date, headcount, and preferred length, and Santa Michael will confirm an exact quote for your Lake Charles Santa Visit.
Mrs. Claus or Buddy the Elf can join any SWLA Santa Visit on request. Mrs. Claus brings a warm, grandmotherly presence many younger kids respond well to, while Buddy the Elf adds energy for a livelier group. It's a nice touch for a bigger family gathering or a December birthday overlapping the holidays. Just mention it when booking so Santa Michael can plan ahead.
SWLA Santa is based in Lake Charles and travels up to 90 miles for a Santa Visit, free of charge inside that radius. This covers all of Calcasieu Parish plus Sulphur, Westlake, Moss Bluff, DeRidder, Lafayette, and towns across the Louisiana and Texas line, including Beaumont, Orange, and Port Arthur. Bookings further out are still possible with a $0.50 per mile travel fee.

A Santa Visit can also be booked as a visit from Papa Noel, Santa Michael's Cajun persona built around the Christmas Eve bonfire-on-the-levee tradition Southwest Louisiana grew up with. It's the same real beard, Santa School training, and insurance underneath, just request Papa Noel instead of Traditional Santa when booking.
SWLA Santa is a growing business, and this section will fill in with the Lake Charles families and repeat clients Santa Michael has visited as Santa Visit bookings come in. If your family has booked a Santa Visit before and would like to be featured here, just let SWLA Santa know.

A few answers, straight from Santa’s desk.
Yes, Santa Michael's beard is his own, which is exactly why families booking a Santa Visit in Lake Charles choose SWLA Santa over a costume rental. He is a member of the International Brotherhood of Real Beard Santas, a group built around Santas who grow and maintain the real thing. Up close in photos during a Santa Visit, that real beard is the detail kids and parents both notice first.

Yes, this comes up often, and Santa Michael's Santa School training is built around exactly this moment. During a Santa Visit, he lets a nervous child hang back and watch a sibling or parent talk with him first, rather than pushing for an immediate interaction. Most kids in Lake Charles who start out shy warm up within a few minutes.
Book early, especially for weekends during the Christmas and holiday season, since SWLA Santa's calendar fills fastest for the two Saturdays before Christmas Eve. Every Santa Visit needs to land on or before December 24, since Santa Michael keeps Christmas Day itself set aside. Lake Charles families wanting a specific date and time should reach out by early November.
